Bjorn Wiinblad Dish

Bjorn Wiinblad (born 1918, died 2006) was a major Danish artist of the 20th century, recognised and honoured all over the world. He won many awards, and his work is a prized part of many museum collections.

As well as painting, poster design, and work in textile printing, he also designed many ceramic pieces for Rosenthal and also for the Danish company Nymolle. His works are characterised by a style that includes round faced people in poses and settings reminiscent of the 19th century.

Generally, his works carry his signature in the picture, and this is no exception. This little dish is from a series depicting the four seasons, and this particular one shows Summer. The dish is from the Nymolle Keramiska Fabrik in Denmark.
